NLP treats every challenge above as having an internal structure, not just a label. "Exam freeze" is often an anchored state — a specific trigger (seeing a 6-mark question) firing an automatic response (panic). "I'm not a science person" is a limiting belief, often carried in a specific mental picture (a memory of a red-marked test, seen big, close, and in colour). Naming the structure — trigger, state, internal image — is the first diagnostic step, because it tells you exactly which tool in Module 5 to use.

Instead of opening notes and re-reading a chapter for an hour, a student blocks 25 minutes, closes the book, and writes down everything she remembers (recall), then checks it against the notes and marks what she missed in a different colour. She stops at the 25-minute mark even if she wants to keep going, because the short, focused block is what makes the habit repeatable on a school night.
She also changes one sentence: instead of starting the block by thinking "I have to get through this," she uses a future-pace — a 10-second mental rehearsal of finishing the block, feeling the small satisfaction of it, before she starts. This primes the brain toward the completed state rather than the effort of starting.
The words students use to themselves shape their state. Swap absolute language ("I always mess this up," "I can never finish in time") for accurate, specific language ("I lost time on question 4 last time — I'm adjusting my pacing"). This isn't positive thinking for its own sake; it's simply more precise, and precise language keeps problems specific and solvable instead of global and identity-level.
